Keep it in the Family

My next book up will be the tardy tale, Keep it in the Family. Those of you who read my books on the iPhone or iPad may have noticed that my eBooks are enhanced with color photos live links and video.

Since Amazon announced that the Kindle Fire will be able to handle HTML4 (forgive me while I geek out for a minute) the enhanced features will also work on that device as well (and should work on any device that plays ePub files).

So what this means for you, the reader, is that starting with, Keep it in the Family, I'm going to start putting out fully enhanced eBooks with color photos, video, links...and...audio!

Ohhhh yea!

#soafx FX is yet another stupid network tying to resist technology.

I've purchased and streamed every season of SOA from Amazon but last night when I attempted to purchase the current episode it wasn't available. It appears that FX only liscensed the first nine episodes.

Apparently, FX is doing this because they think that people are stupid enough to pay for cable or $40+ for blu ray/DVD.

Pissed that I couldn't purchase the latest episode of my show, I did a google search and three minutes later I watched it in hidef for...FREE. Since I can't purchase the show the way that I want, I will watch the...rest...of the season for...FREE.

Stop trying to force people to consume your product in ways that they don't want. You'll make more money that way...

A playa has four different types of girls...

A Playa has 4 different types of girls...

1. Wifey
2. Baby Girl
3. Side Piece
4. Jump Off

1) Wifey is the sexiest, most successful and most respected of all the women. She is loved, needed and wanted by her man...she is VIRTUALLY IRREPLACEABLE. She is the girl that the guy loves and will always love, he never wants to see her with another man...BUT he will cheat on her with Baby Girl until he is mature enough to realize that if he gets caught or fucks up in any way and loses Wifey, he would be screwed, and NEVER be happy again. Wifey gets along with mom, is independent, never nags, loves to dress sexy for her man, can cook and loves to keep a clean house. Wifey gets called 5 or 6 times a day. Drawback of Wifey, she loves public displays of affection...which might interfere with the acquisition of a Side Piece.

2) Baby Girl is ALWAYS just as hot as wifey and usually has a very active social life...she IS replaceable, thinks she's the next Wifey, but will only be Wifey if an extreme disaster takes place. Baby Girl gets some of the benefits of Wifey, like quality time every now and then and even presents on birthdays and holidays, but that's as far as it goes. The main reason to have Baby Girl is in case Wife really really fucks up, she can be replaced in a matter of weeks because Baby Girl has been groomed to slip right into her spot. Be careful of Baby Girl, she tends to be just as attached as Wifey and therefore can be dangerous to the Side Piece. Biggest benefit of Baby Girl..she is extremely private and hates causing a scene, baby girl can come into the same restaurant as you and wifey and wifey will have no idea you two even know each other. Baby Girl is a master of disguise as well.

3) Side Piece, usually a female that the guy uses only for sex and other pleasures, she is usually the one that he goes to for that 3-some or some late night head after the club. When Wifey is acting up and Baby Girl is at work, the Side Piece is usually the one to hold him over for
A few hrs. He can meet with the Side Piece for reasons other than sex, but normally that only happens one week during the month. Side Pieces are hard to spot when they are out because most of her friends are either Wifey's or Jump Offs. Drawback of having more than one side piece, they usually know each other somehow...we kinda think there is a side piece network.Com or something. Try to keep your side piece count below 4 if possible.

4) Jump Off...every mans dream and worst nightmare. She is trying to move up in life, wants to be a Side Piece or Wifey but doesn't know how to go about it. They are just the girls he hollas at when he is with his boys...she is usually stored in the cell phone by a nickname because he barely remembers her real name and where he met her...he only recalls how fat her ass was. The Jump Off gets called in emergencies only, when wifey is moody, baby girl is on vacation and side piece is with her baby's father. The Jump Off is extremely dangerous in public for a number of reasons, she is usually 5 other guys jump off as well, so she might cause drama with you and one of those dudes if you slip up, she also has no problem confronting you in the mall when you are with Wifey (something that baby girl would NEVER do) and the most dangerous thing about Jump Off...she ALWAYS seems to find out where you live and or work.

Where Will Amazon End up Next?

Amazon.com launched its German Kindle store earlier this year, and despite a sluggish response at first, reports that ebooks are finally taking off in Western Europe are trickling in. Whereas Amazon’s book sales in the US are far skewed towards digital now, the European consumers who were initially slow to embrace digital reading are now giving ebooks a second glance, mostly on tablets rather than dedicated e-readers.

Amazon disses Apple!

I love my iPhone and iPad but I must admit that Apple was tripping a bit when they tried to lock down the AppStore so that any app that charged for a product had to give them 30% of every sale.

I was curious how Amazon was going to take Apple's new rule because I knew that Amazon had no intentions on paying Apple 30% for every sale that they got from the Kindle app.

I wasn't sure if Amazon would complain or try to sue Apple and I was surprised when they went completely out of the box and announced the Kindle Cloud Reader.

The cloud reader displays in a Safari or Crome browser which allows a user to read...and... purchase books from Amazon.bypassing using an app.

When I heard about this I wasn't very impressed, however, after loading it I was blown over!

Although I buy my ebooks from Amazon, I prefer to read them on my iPad so that I can view them in color and your ebooks look 10 times better on the Kindle Cloud Reader.

So not only did Amazon get over on Apple but they also now provide a better Kindle Reader.

Apple may buy Barnes and Noble

As an erotica writer, I would...really...be unhappy if Apple were to purchase B&N. Apple is beyond anal when it comes to having erotica on the IBookstore. To date I have only been able to get one book listed on the iBookStore and I fear if Apple were to purchase B&N that they would quickly impose their sexually repressed, draconian sentiments on the Nook Store.

B&N is my bread and butter in sales. I really hope that Apple doesn't f#@% it up.

Is Apple Using Gift Cards to Prop Up a Sagging iBookstore?

The problem with the iBookstore is that it is anal in regards to the content that they will allow upon it. I own a iPhone4, iPad, iMac and MacBook. I'm also an established author. So when Apple announced the iBookstore I was very excited.

That excitement was dashed quickly, however, when the iBookstore approved only two of my books for sale on the store. I write erotica, and Apple felt that my covers and images inside of the books were just too much for their little hearts to take.

Two months later, the ibookstore informed me that upon...second thought...they were removing my book "I'm Shy...", from the iBookstore because the cover was just too hot for them to handle. I published a new book yesterday but with the flakiness of the iBookstore I'm not the least bit concerned with publishing any new work there and I encourage all of my readers to read my work on Amazon's Kindle and Barnes and Noble's Nook. I'm not the only publisher feed up with the iBookstore doing this. And there are many readers who realize that it's a very good chance that they won't find the book that they are looking for at the iBookstore.

Barnes & Noble Focuses on E-Books

"Barnes & Noble is doing a smart job of using their store traffic to build an e-book audience," said Mike Shatzkin, CEO of Ideal Logical Co., publishing consultants.

I disagree. I'm an author that derives the biggest percentage of my sales via Barnes & Nobles and a shareholder. I travel the country pretty extensively and I have been very disappointed at every store to find the "Nook Desk" (ie, area that usually sits in the entrance to the store displaying Nooks) underutilized by associates looking straight through you and not offering a demonstration of the product or worse not paying attention at all playing with the product.

I have a vested interest in Barnes and Nobel's success and I feel they could do a much better job pushing the products. In addition, B&N now offers free WiFi but every store that I have been in has limited seating that is not comfortable or seating only in the Cafe area.

This completely wastes the advantage of offering free WiFi and having a physical storefront. At best, I would say B&N is doing an "okay" job of using their store traffic to build an e-book audience. They would do much better if they focused on the two areas mentioned above.

So you're gonna dump Netflix because of a $6 increase? Really?

I've been very amused reading all the people who are pissed off about Netflix decoupling it's streaming service from its DVD by mail. Currently, I have both services but I rarely order DVDs by mail. So I look at the change as a net savings for me because I'm going to go with the streaming only service.

Netflix is a great deal even with the price increase. So for al you folks complaining out there that you're gonna dump Netflix where ya you think you're gonna go? Redbox? Amazon Prime? Hulu????? Really?

Is Social Security Safe with the Tea Party in Power?

Personally, I'd waive my social security benefits if the government would allow me to keep my 6.2% from here on out. I could invest that money and be in much better shape for retirement.

Let's face facts. Social Security is a pyramid scheme that will soon collapse. Simple math shows that people in the baby boomer generation far outnumber their children. So for all of those retired folk to draw social security payments into the system will probably triple if not more.

I don't think my children will want to take on that burden and they shouldn't have to. And I seriously doubt that they will go for that shit. Can you say...revolution?

If social security was eliminated right now individuals, businesses and the economy would all be better off. That infusion of cash into everyone's wallets would allow alms-giving for the people who totally rely upon it.

I'm at it again... (eBook Trailer)

This month I will release, "I'm at it again..." an eBook trailer that will preview my next three upcoming books.

I will share 10,000 words from each book for a huge 30,000 word preview. This will be in eBook only and it will be free at LULU, Smashwords, XinXii, Kobo, Sony eBookstore, Diesel, and eBookEros. Unfortunatly, I will have to charge $.99 on Amazon and Barnes and Nobles because they have minimum retail amounts.

However, people getting the eBook at either Amazon or Barnes and Nobles will get the unedited version that's full of nasty pictures (you know how I do) while the version of the book going to the other stores will have the pictures edited out by my distributor (they anal). So it balances out.

Amazon Kills eBook Lending Site Lendle

I am so glad that Amazon killed this site before it could get it's feet off the ground. Although, Amazon shouldn't have arbitrarily forced authors into it's eBook lending program in the first place. That service should have been made...optional...for authors in regard to if they wanted to be a part of it or not.

As an author, I already make content available for free and free samples are available for download so I don't need Amazon or anyone else...lending....my shit.

It amused me when Lendle whined about Amazon shut them down stating that their site was, "...good for authors". Making it easy to give away my content doesn't do crap for me. I'm in this for the money. Not fame.

Dear Daddy,

Today I started back my exercising regiment. I lost the little toning I had, so I went on the treadmill to jog. I've also ordered some of those Tai-Chi DVDs to help give me more flexibility.

So I'm working out in the gym when the security guy comes by and tells me its time to go. I look at my phone, not realizing the time. Ive been at the gym for a good two hours. My roommates will nag me about where Ive been this late at night.

I grab my things and start toward the door, I say goodnight to the guard and head out the gym. Its a little chilly and I wish that I had brought my jacket, instead of just wearing a sweatshirt and short-shorts.

I walk to my apartment complex and it's really dark and somewhat scary due to the trees blowing eerily in the wind but I'm used to it. I'm really anxious about what Im going to eat for dinner. For a college student I'm doing really with my eating habits.

I feel something behind me and I turn and look around but see nothing but a bunch of parked cars, apartment buildings and trees. I stand there for a moment and listen, nothing still. Shrugging my shoulders I keep walking and after a few feet more I again get the feeling like someone is watching me.

I pick up my pace and really start hurrying home forgetting how cold it is. I just want to get away from whoever is watching me. Seeing someone walking towards me I slow my pace and watch them closely since I'm not sure of their intentions.
